Some big news from earlier this week.
Legal directory giant Martindale-Hubbell, part of LexisNexis, has announced a joint venture with online marketing company Internet Brands, best known in the legal sector for its Nolo division.
In an official press release, Martindale parent Reed Elsevier said:
“The joint venture will offer its customers a broad suite of marketing solutions, including website hosting, lead generation, and online listings. LexisNexis will contribute its Martindale-Hubbell online marketing solutions and Lawyers.com businesses. Internet Brands will utilize its technology platform and online marketing expertise to manage the joint venture.
Through this joint venture, we will have a powerful combination of some of the leading brands in the legal space with Internet Brand’s unparalleled expertise in online marketing solutions.”
Martindale-Hubbell has been moving away from larger law firms for some time, and increasingly focuses on offering smaller law firms packages of online services.
Lawyers.com, edited by long-time marketing consultant Larry Bodine, is one of Lexis Nexis’s chief consumer-facing products.
Nolo, which was acquired by Internet Brands in April 2011, offers consumers a range of online documents and other legal resources.
