Avvo, the Seattle-based lawyer directory, has announced that Amy Bohutinsky, chief marketing officer of Zillow, has joined its board of directors.
Fresh from raising a new round of finance, Avvo is beefing up its senior management team, with someone that helped turn Zillow into one of the leading real estate brands in the United States.
Bohutinsky, one of Zillow’s earliest employees, was a driver behind the company’s growth to more than 80 million unique users each month, said Avvo in a statement.
For the unfamiliar, Zillow is an online database of 100 million homes across the United States.
The site provides details about homes, value estimates, and prices of comparable homes in the area – a US version of Zoopla, for UK readers.
Zillow and Avvo share a similar history.
Zillow was founded in 2005 by Rich Barton and Lloyd Frink, former Microsoft executives and founders of the travel site Expedia.
Avvo chief Mark Britton worked with Rich Barton at Expedia before founding Avvo in 2007, while Barton sits on the Avvo board, and works as a venture partner at Benchmark Capital, one of Avvo’s financial backers.
Avvo rates 97% of US lawyers and offers a Q&A forum and marketplace with active participation by 170,000 lawyers
Separately, it looks like the Avvo staff have been having a bit of fun in the office!
