The Times of London has released its new survey of what it says are the best 200 firms in England and Wales.
Based on a peer review methodology, 200 UK law firms are recommended in 31 categories.
You can view the results in one of two ways online.
Firstly, by selecting an area of practice from a dropdown menu.
In this case below I selected “Family Law” and you see the firms ranked as first, second and third, with all the other recommended firms listed alphabetically below.
If you click on any of the firm names there is editorial commentary describing the firm’s practice, which includes details of matters handled by the practice.
Secondly, you can scroll through the list of firms A-Z, and then click on the firm of your choice.
That route will also take you to the same editorial commentary, with the areas where the firm has been recommended listed at the bottom.
To produce the survey, The Times linked up with research company Statista, which asked participants: “other than your own firm, which practice would you instruct in this area of work?”
Statista, The Times’ research partner, contacted more than 20,000 lawyers, and received responses from lawyers from 500 firms.
From that list of 500 firms, the top 200 firms whose lawyers received the most peer recommendations in one or more of 31 categories of commercial, public and private client legal practice were selected for the list.
Respondents were not allowed to recommend their own law firm.
The results are also available in hard copy form via a supplement in the newspaper.
