The Legal 500 is planning to enhance its coverage of the German legal market in advance of the next edition of The Legal 500 Deutschland directory.
The Legal 500 said:
“All the Legal 500 Deutschland research, interviews and publication itself will be done in German as the first language, representing a major investment from The Legal 500 into the German market. The German team will be headed up by Andrea Leber who has been covering the German legal market for us for six years.”
Law firms have until May 3 2013 to provide client references and submissions.
Interviews with lawyers take place between May 6 2013 and July 26 2013, and the 2014 edition is published in November 2013.
Information is available in English and German at the Legal 500’s website.
Unlike most European countries where the UK-based international directories are dominant, Germany has a strong independent directory of its own, Juve.
Juve is known for its comprehensive and in-depth coverage of the German market – from the offices of large, international firms to regional firms that serve Germany’s famous “Mittelstand” mid-market companies.
The UK-based directories, by contrast, have tended to cover only the larger commercial firms in the main centers.
However, Legal 500’s renewed focus on Germany is likely to provide some stiff competition.
