Legal 500 assistant editor Lauren Hughes tweeted a link earlier today to an article from 1988 describing the launch of the Legal 500.
Somehow stumbled across this from 1988: bit.ly/11bk2dK Interesting to see how much #legal500 has changed since then

It made such fascinating and entertaining reading that I decided to dedicate a blog post.
The article was written in May 1988 after the release of the first edition of the Legal 500 UK edition, and was published in the Law Society Gazette.
Read the article in full here.
For non-UK readers, the Law Society is the professional association that represents solicitors in England and Wales.
The Law Society Gazette is published weekly by the Law Society and distributed to all practicing solicitors.

Update
Not to be outdone, Chambers & Partners has kindly informed me that the Legal 500 is not the only esteemed legal directory publisher to be given the Gazette quill and ink treatment.
