Law360 has released its first ever Law360 400 – its inaugural ranking of the 400 largest law firms in the United States.
The new survey places Law360 squarely on the same territory as the NLJ 350, the National Law Journal’s annual survey, which also lists firms in the United States by size.
The National Law Journal first published its survey of the top 200 largest firms by headcount in 1978, then expanded to 250 firms in 1983.
In 2012, the NLJ 250 grew to become the NLJ 350.
Now, Law360 has gone one step further and pushed it to 400.
With more than 1,700 U.S. attorneys, Jones Day is ranked #1 in the Law360 400.
14 firms have more than 1,000 U.S. attorneys.
The publisher says that the market for outside counsel in the U.S. was $60.2 billion in 2013.
Law firms’ PR machines have been quick to get in gear, with one firm touting its #270 placing on the new Law360 list.
