After an announcement earlier in the year, the Financial Times now invites nominations for the first Asia-Pacific edition of its Innovative Lawyers Report.
Full submission guidelines are available here, but to summarize:
- Submission deadline is February 28 2014
- The research process commences on December 2 2013 and ends in late April 2014
- Publication is in May 2014 to coincide with a launch event in Hong Kong
- There is no cost for submitting entries
- As with the European and US editions, the FT has partnered with the legal research company RSG Consulting to manage the process
- There is a variety of categories for private practice law firms, individual lawyers, and in-house teams
- Submissions should be no longer than 1,000 words.
- The report will assess innovations from January 2012
- Innovations must have taken place in the Asia-Pacific region and been led from an office in that region
- There will be two sets of rankings – one for international firms and one for local firms originating in the Asia-Pacific region
- Innovations will be scored for originality, rationale, and impact
- Assessment criteria will be based on local norms and benchmarks of innovation rather than what constitutes innovation in the European or US legal markets
It’s been a busy time for the FT Innovative Lawyers team.
In November, the US edition of this year’s report was released at the same time as an event in New York.
The European innovation survey was first published in 2006, while the US edition launched in December 2010.
In contrast to traditional surveys and rankings, the program, which consists of a written report and a launch event, assesses commercial lawyers on their innovation, both for clients and in their own businesses.
