A longstanding Chambers & Partners editor, Ignacio Abella, has left the company, and recently joined Iberian lawyer to set up a new Latin America division at the legal publisher.
Madrid-based Iberian Lawyer, which was set up 10 years ago, has hired Abella (pictured), a Spanish-speaker, to lead the new Latin America section from London.
He commented:
“I am delighted to join Iberian Lawyer as editor for Latin America and I look forward to the opportunities this new section will create for our readers and the legal community in Latin America and elsewhere.”
Mari Cruz Taboada, managing director at Iberian Lawyer, said:
“This new initiative will bring the Iberian community and the world closer to a region that has proved extremely important for the expansion of global businesses.”
Abella joined Chambers & Partners in 2004 and has held a number of roles at the company.
Between 2007 and 2011 he was deputy editor of the Chambers Latin America directory.
Then in 2013 he took over the firm’s in-house initiative, which offers events and seminars to in-house lawyers.
A popular and recognizable face at the business, Abella also helped to develop the Chambers social media presence, and was the driving force behind the company’s enhanced digital profile for a number of years.
