European law firms have until Friday, September 20 to submit their entries for The Lawyers’ annual European Awards.
This year there are four new cross-border transactional categories for firms active in corporate, finance, projects, and competition work.
These categories are open to any firm practicing in Continental Europe.
Joanne Harris, The Lawyer’s Europe editor, offers some reassurance for smaller and medium-sized firms who may be wary about entering:
“Winning firms will not necessarily be those which have topped deal tables. Last year’s awards went to a range of practices, from small corporate boutiques to some of Europe’s biggest firms. What they all had in common was a commitment to excellence across the board and a clear strategic vision.”
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, including managing partners at private practice firms and in-house counsel at multinational companies.

The event itself will be held in March 2014 rather than in Autumn, as it has been in previous years.
Noerr, the German-based firm, won the trophy award last year – European Law Firm of The Year – while Spanish firm Cuatrecasas picked up the honors in 2011.
