Toby Eccleshall is set to become the new editor of Chambers USA.
Former editor Laura Mills, who had been rumored to be leaving for a few weeks, formally announced her departure in a statement issued by Chambers & Partners today – March 24 2017.
Eccleshall, who graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in German and Russian, has worked at Chambers & Partners since 2013, and has acted as deputy editor for the last two years.
He takes over as US editor on May 1 2017 – just as the Chambers USA 2017-18 directory season cranks into gear.
Toby said to me:
“It is a great honor to be taking on the role of Chambers USA editor. I am excited to be part of the upcoming launch of the 2017 guide and look forward to beginning research for our 2018 edition in the coming months. I am eager to build upon the outstanding work done by my predecessors and further develop the excellent relationships I have formed with law firms across the United States from my time as a deputy editor.”
Chambers commented:
“Toby has excelled consistently in his role as deputy editor of Chambers USA for the past two years. Please join me in congratulating Toby on his new position. We are confident that his experience and expertise will stand him in excellent stead as he takes up the reins as USA editor.”
Chambers USA has had five editors since it launched in 2002: Rieta Ghosh (now Chambers senior managing editor), Tom Wicker, Dana Seay, Laura Mills, and now Toby Eccleshall.
Mills was the longest serving US editor after she joined Chambers in 2008, and became US editor in 2011.
