Chambers & Partners has announced its US directory research schedule for 2016-17.
Several new developments this year:
New Submission Template
Chambers has rolled out a new submission template, which it is has asked firms to use.
More here.
In addition to what I wrote before, bear in mind that, although the “publishable” and “confidential” sections allow ten work highlights each, there is some flexibility in how you present the matters.
As Chambers editor Laura Mills explains:
“If you find you do not have an even 10/10 split between publishable and confidential work, you may utilize the other part of the submission to fill in more highlights (for example, you may put publishable work highlights in the confidential section), but please make sure the publishability/confidentiality is clearly marked. You may not exceed 20 work highlights total.”
Increase in Client References
The number of client references you can provide has increased to 20 per submission.

No More Extensions
Chambers will no longer grant extensions on any late submissions.
Per Chambers:
“Our new policy on submissions is that, while we will accept late submission files, we cannot guarantee that those which arrive after the deadline will be able to receive the same level of attention as those that arrive on time. If a submission will not be in by the deadline, it is not necessary to keep us apprised of its status, please simply submit it as soon as possible and the relevant people will be automatically notified.”
Deadline Changes
Most of the new deadlines are the same as in previous years, but sections with changed dates include Florida: Healthcare, Texas: Healthcare, Nationwide: Healthcare, Nationwide: Mediators, and sections in New Mexico, Montana, and Idaho.
New Sections
Confirmed new sections in the guide this year include: Alabama: Healthcare, California: Native American Law, Texas: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations, and Upstate New York: Real Estate.
Chambers has said that it is looking at whether to introduce a Nationwide: Agribusiness table.
The Nationwide Transportation: Shipping section has been renamed as Nationwide Transportation: Shipping/Maritime, and Chambers has removed the geographical divisions from Shipping/Maritime finance and regulatory sections.
New Edition
The new edition of the directory – Chambers USA 2016 – will be published on May 27 2016.
