Legal marketers: in case you missed this, Chambers announced its schedule for the 2014-15 edition of the UK directory earlier in the week.
As has become the norm in recent years, there are two deadlines: December 13 2013, and February 14 2014.
Take a look at the schedule, check when your sections are due, and start getting organized.
At the same time, the latest edition of Chambers UK (named Chambers UK 2014) – edited by Jonathan Rubin – is published on Wednesday, October 30 2013.
Submission preparation was easier in the old days.
The directory was published, and then you had a few months to get your breath back, digest the results, communicate your successes, deal with the internal disappointments, and get ready for the next round.
Now it’s more of a rush.
For some directories in recent years, the first submission deadlines have often been just a few weeks after the launch of the new edition, or in some cases, before the new edition is even published.
That means starting on the submission preparation before the results are out, leading to something of a dilemma as the results influence who you nominate, how you position the practice, or whether you submit at all.
However, Chambers has responded by stretching the first UK submission deadline to give firms more preparation time.
From October 30 2013 (launch day) to December 13 2013 (deadline #1) gives firms six weeks to get ready.
Still intensive if you are responsible for a large number of submissions, or in a large law firm, but preferable to the crunch seen in some previous years.
The annual Chambers UK launch bash, where you can get your hands on a new copy of the directory, takes place on October 30 2013 at The Grand Connaught Rooms (Edinburgh Suite – pictured below), 61-65 Great Queen Street, London, WC2B 5DA, from 6.30pm-10pm
At around the same time, the new content will go live on the Chambers website.
