Chambers & Partners has added a new feature to its website that allows users to find articles written by law firms.
The Articles section, which has its own button along the top navigation bar on the Chambers site, features three different types of content: articles on legal developments written by law firms, press releases issued by firms, and firm work highlights – descriptions of highlight matters.
All three of these different types of content are added by law firms through their own profiles, but the articles section brings them together and makes the content searchable in one place, rather than having items scattered around many different law firm profiles.
With the evolution in the Chambers online profile system, law firms can now publish extra information like articles, deals, and press releases, beyond the standard firm description that has traditionally formed the main part of the profile.
For example, here is an article that the law firm Goodman Derrick has written about the new European General Data Protection Regulation which comes into force in 2018.
If you scroll to the end of the article, a link button called “view profile” then takes you to the law firm’s profile, which is the original source of the article.
Goodman Derrick’s basic profile description appears under “overview”, but if you move along the horizontal bar to the “articles” tab, you will see the GDPR article and others.
Here’s an example of a press release, issued by the law firm Vinson & Elkins, about the promotion of a number of new partners.
As with the articles, you can then scroll down after the text and click the link through to the firm’s profile.
And here’s an example of a “work highlight” – a transaction led by Panama law firm Morgan & Morgan.
You can also use the search box on the “articles” page to find relevant content.
I typed “antitrust” and got 140 results, comprising a mixture of authored articles, press releases and work highlights.
As more firms start to use the content options on their profiles, the overall amount of content will no doubt expand considerably, and it may be that the search facility will have to be developed to allow for more targeted results.
This latest new feature from Chambers & Partners follows its recent launch of a dedicated new website for its Global Practice Guides series.
Another recent new product out of Chambers has been the Professional Advisers series – a series of guides that blend rankings of professional advisers in different countries, along with topical articles.
Last year the company added two new features – Request for Proposals and Ask the Experts – to its online “Connect” network.
