Chambers & Partners has hired a new manager to look after the company’s web and social media presence.
Alyx Barker joined Chambers this month from fellow London-based legal publisher Law Business Research, the organization behind the Who’s Who Legal directory, Global Arbitration Review, Global Competition Review, and Latin Lawyer.
At Chambers, Alyx will lead the firm’s social media efforts and run the popular @ChambersGuides twitter handle.
This week the Twitter account notched up its 8,000th follower:
Who will get the much coveted accolade of being our 8000th follower?….

Chambers also has an active presence on Facebook.
Fellow Chambers social media maven Ignacio Abella, who formerly ran the Chambers social media accounts, and has helped to enhance the company’s digital profile over the last couple of years, takes up a new position internally co-leading the GC and in-house events initiative.
Dee Sekar, who runs the Chambers Women in Law initiative, will also co-head the in-house counsel seminar program.
That role was previously held by Catherine McGregor, who left Chambers recently to join Lawdragon in a newly created position as chief of strategic development.
An investment funds-themed event is planned for October 2013 to coincide with the IBA annual conference in Boston, while other seminars in New York and London in late 2013 and early 2014 are also in the works.
