Latin America is flavor of the month.
Last week Chambers & Partners announced that it had promoted two of its staff to the position of Deputy Editor on the Chambers Latin America directory.
Peru-qualified lawyer, Ursula Ben-Hammou, and former capital markets reporter, Jethro Soutar are making the step up.
Deputy Editors are key positions in the Chambers structure, as they are often at the “coal face” and well positioned to deal with queries from law firms and marketing staff.
The move comes as rival directory Legal 500 announced in November 2011 that it was launching a new Latin America directory.
Notably, Legal 500 hired Tim Girven, formerly the Deputy Editor of Chambers Latin America, to launch and edit its Latin America directory – the first time in legal directory history that an editor has jumped between Chambers and Legal 500.
More about the new Deputy Editors:
Ursula Ben-Hammou: Graduated in law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and holds a Master in Laws (LLM) with specialization in International Business Transactions from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is a qualified lawyer in Peru, with significant experience in corporate and finance law. Fluent in English and Spanish and also speaks French.
Jethro Soutar: Read Portuguese and Spanish at Cardiff University. He is a former capital markets reporter and a published non-fiction author and translator.
