The legal research consultancy BTI has published a new report that identifies the four law firms in-house counsel most fear.
Tagged the Fearsome Foursome, according to the survey, companies dread coming up against Quinn Emanuel, Jones Day, Kirkland & Ellis, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
Boies, Schiller and & Flexner, which was among the foursome in last year’s study (WSJ Law Blog), is now in The Awesome Opponents – the next group below – along with Cravath, Swain & Moore, Hogan Lovells, and Jenner & Block.
A further 75 law firms are credited on the Honor Roll of Most Feared Law Firms.
The full BTI Litigation Outlook 2014 study is based on 300 corporate counsel interviews, and features analysis of 240 law firms.
According to the findings, 60.7% of clients expect to see a rise in litigation over the next year.
Law360 has more coverage of the survey.
In July 2013, BTI identified the law firms that it says provide the best outside counsel, and in 2011 the agency produced a study showing that nine out of ten corporate legal staff turn to legal directories and online lawyer profiles.
BTI was founded in 1989 by Michael Rynowecer and is based in Massachusetts.
