Best Lawyers has released the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
With all the recent clamor around the Best Lawyers-US News survey, the company’s annual peer review listing has been somewhat in the shadows.
But the annual survey, which has been published in some form for almost 30 years, still claims to be the most extensive in the market.
The 2012 edition of Best Lawyers was based on more than 3.9 million confidential evaluations from the top attorneys across the country.
In the U.S, Best Lawyers now lists 43,477 attorneys in 138 legal practice areas.
Unlike many other legal directories that incorporate some element of client feedback, inclusion in Best Lawyers continues to be based entirely on peer review.
Peer review is the evaluation process by which lawyers are included on the basis of recommendations from other attorneys in private practice.
As well as the Best Lawyers website, the Best Lawyers of America lists are re-published in Corporate Counsel, The American Lawyer, Law.Com and numerous city and business magazines.
