According to Startup Daily, the Australian lawyer directory LegalVision has raised $1.2 million in new finance, bringing the total investment into the site to $1.5 million.
In a competitive market, which has seen numerous lawyer matching sites launch in recent years, LegalVison appears to be gaining traction.
LegalVision began life in December 2012 as an online legal documents specialist focused on the DIY market.
Consumers and small businesses seeking legal documents such as contracts and agreements could download templates from the LegalVision website.
The site has developed since then into a more customer-friendly offering.
LegalVision now offers real lawyers who review documents, and advise on the bespoke aspects of client matters – acting almost as a law firm in itself.
In January 2014, LegalVision became Australia’s first legal service provider to allow customers to pay for legal services with Bitcoin.
Then in July 2014, the site underwent an image makeover – ditching its blue color scheme in favor of an attention-grabbing black and orange look.
Australia has seen a burst of activity in lawyer directory sites in the last couple of years.
LawPath linked up with Lexis Nexis in 2013, and received a new round of funding in 2014.
There’s also Brief It, and Aussie Legal, and LawCorner, which launched in October 2014.
