Access Solicitor, the UK-based legal directory, has formed a partnership with the legal education program Lawyers in Schools to provide pro-bono marketing support to help the organization reach firms and businesses.
Warren Smith, founder and chief executive of AccessSolicitor.com, said:
“One of the reasons I set up AccessSolicitor.com is because I passionately believe accessing legal services should be straight-forward and transparent. Looking for a lawyer can be daunting at best and intimidating at worst, and our business is designed to change that.
But we also need to better educate our young people about the profession, how it works, and what it means to them. That is why we have happily agreed to provide pro bono marketing support for the Citizenship Foundation’s Lawyers in Schools program.”
Lawyers in Schools is led by employee volunteers and brings together schools, predominately in deprived areas, with firms, in-house legal teams and barristers’ chambers to give students the chance to engage with lawyers on legal issues.
In October, Access Solicitor joined up with the University of Westminster Law School to develop a new algorithm technology that will recommend the best lawyer for a customer’s needs.
The idea is that lawyers will only hear from the best possible matches and, crucially, people who are most likely to engage paid-for legal services.
Under the partnership, the University of Westminster Law School will analyze academic research on how and why consumers and small businesses select lawyers.
AccessSolicitor will then use that research to develop the algorithm formula.
The first version of the algorithm is scheduled for 2014.
AccessSolicitor currently features almost 13,000 UK-based legal professionals.
As well as solicitors, the site lists direct access barristers, legal executives, licensed conveyancers, and probate practitioners.
In August 2013, the site underwent a makeover and relaunched with a new design.
