IFLR1000 is due to launch the latest edition of its energy and infrastructure guide.
The publication, which was launched in 2013 in Africa and Latin America editions, will be available in early June 2014, along with the June edition of IFLR.
The energy sector is something of a departure for IFLR1000, which has traditionally stuck firmly to its corporate finance patch.
But not surprising when you consider that the global energy industry is valued at something like $6 trillion a year – about 10% of the global economy.
From a legal and regulatory standpoint, as IFLR1000 says:
“2014 will see further increases in the investment and scrutiny of the energy and infrastructure sector. From broadband networks to offshore wind, there has never been a greater need for industry specific legal advice relating to regulatory regimes that are changing almost as fast as they are introduced.”
According to the IFRl1000, the guide will:
“Compare and contrast the energy and infrastructure practices of leading international and domestic firms in Asia-Pacific, Emerging Europe, CIS, Scandinavia, Latin America, and Sub Saharan Africa.
It will cover mining and metals, oil and gas, power, renewables and clean technology, airports and aviation, defense, ports and shipping, rail, roads, social infrastructure, water and utilities.”
The guide will be organized by region, with each section containing a chapter dedicated to international firms.
As well as the usual law firm rankings and commentary, there are individual lawyer ratings, in-house Q&As, feature articles, and deal statistics.
Notably, the guide is published in association with the respected energy publication, Petroleum Economist, and will also be available online at IFLR1000, IFLR, and Petroleum Economist
The regular IFLR1000 team has led the development of this product, and enquiries should be directed to Sam Duke on the editorial side, and Richard Valmarana for sales.
